Edmund’s Poor Numbers, ECU Meddling Fixed

Remember in this article when Edmunds said they couldn’t get the numbers they were hoping for in a 300HP RWD coupe? Well it turns out Hyundai didn’t think those numbers were right either, so they worked it out with Edmunds and found a few problems. Worn tires, a bad alignment, and an over-zealous ECU were to blame. With these issues fixed, Edmunds takes ther V6 coupe out to the track again, this time with much more promising numbers! Good thing is that Hyundai is already working with dealers to address the ECU problem, and reflashes are on the way to eleminate the 3 second shift delay. According to Edmunds, if you already bought your car, call up your Hyundai dealer and they will perform the reflash for free. Great news all around! Click here to see their retest! Thanks to Loren for the tip!
Hyundai was disappointed to. So they went through the car following our track session looking for answers. What Hyundai’s engineers found was a rear wheel alignment that was off spec and worn front tires paired with new rears.
