Rex Roy at The Car Connection Shares Thoughts

Rex Roy over at The Car Connection just recently stuck up a short review of the Genesis Coupe after his trip to a Hyundai PR event in Nevada. He mentions that the usual fare for an automotive PR event is a a day at the track preceded by a short safety lecture on how to treat the car properly as to not damage the gearbox, engine, or some other expensive mechanical part – everyone knows journalist miles are the worst miles to put on a car. Apparently there was no such lecture at this event, where the Hyundai engineers handed the keys over and challenged the journalists to make the brakes fade. They didn’t. In fact, to the disappointment of the repair crew present, the only job throughout the day of journalistic abuse dished out was a routine change of tires. Package that kind of customer confidence that Hyundai has in the car, along with their 10 year 100000 miles warranty, and you have a hell of a winner on your hands. Oh, and the car was fun to drive too. Click here to see the full review, along with a small handful of pictures.

These exercises attest to the mechanical stoutness of the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. While it won’t be impossible for regular consumers to break the car (never underestimate the driving public), your author thinks it unlikely. Keep in mind that Hyundai backs their cars with ten-year/100,000-mile warranties, so their new Coupe had better be tough.
