The Detroit News, perhaps green with envy that an Asian carmaker has bested what domestic cooperations could do for less, has reviews the Genesis Coupe. Both the 3.8L V6 and the 2.0T were tested – and Scott Burgess of The Detroit News loves them both. The only issue he had (and seems to be one of the very few recurring issues) is with the shifter – he feels it is placed too far back in the center console. Given the GT style influence of the car, Burgess quickly finds that moving the seat back to a more relaxes “cruising mode” position quickly solves that problem. The little Korean car company kept doubling down, hand after hand. Quality problems? Offer a 10-year warranty. Scoff at its luxury aspirations? Win the North American Car of the Year award. Bad economy? Offer a ground-breaking program that will help people pay if they lose their jobs. It’s not altruistic; it’s good business. Now, the house is copying Hyundai.
