<p><a href="http://www.beyondredline.com/" target="_blank">Beyond Redline</a> has taken apart the exhaust manifold and turbocharger assembly from the 2.0T Genesis Coupe. No surprises here, a typical log manifold with a rather small TD04-based Mitsubishi turbocharger. One interesting thing to note is the BPV is mounted right on the compressor housing, similar to what is done on the SRT-4 Neon. Disappointing though, on a car with double digit mileage they had problems removing the fasteners without breaking anything. <p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>The factory fasteners leave a lot to be desired. The turbo-manifold studs and the cat to turbo studs stripped out and needed to be replaced. Not exactly what we were expecting after only putting 95 miles on the car <img class="inlineimg" title="Woah" src="http://www.gencoupe.com/images/smilies/woah.gif" border="0" alt="" /> Needless to say we ordered new ARP hardware for replacement to prevent this from happening again.</em></p>

<p>Again, <a href="http://www.amsperformance.com/" target="_blank">AMS Performance</a> spares no effort, and wastes no time in putting their 2.0T Genesis Coupe under the knife. This time, they have the Genesis Coupe on a lift, and they examine the exhaust system in detail. The exhaust system is made out of 60mm (2 3/8&#8243;) piping, with a neckdown to 45mm  (1 3/4&#8243;) near a crossmember. Plenty of room for improvement. One good thing to note is that the O2 sensor is before the catalytic converter &#8211; there is no post-cat O2 sensor. This means the car isn&#8217;t going to throw a CEL when a catless exhaust is bolted on. <p style="padding-left: 30px;"><em>We had a chance to get the Coupe up on the lift today to explore designs for the AMS Gen Coupe exhaust. The factory exhaust leaves a bit to be desired. The exhaust is approximately 2 3/8&#8243; OD (60mm) and is even crushed down to 1 3/4&#8243; to clear the factory body brace in one spot.</em></p>

<p>Personally, the fact that the rear valence has two cutouts should mean that you should put on a dual exhaust, but I think this looks pretty decent. <a href="http://www.tanabeusa.com" target="_blank">Tanabe</a> has always put out great high-quality pieces in the past. Just can&#8217;t wait to see the Medallion Touring version of their exhaust! The car in the photo is a 2.0T model.
